New Dreadlokk Creation
Lokktology Dreads: New Dreadlock Creations
At Lokktology Dreads, we create stunning new dreadlocks using the crochet hook method, a technique that gives you neat, tight, and long-lasting locks from the very start. This method requires clean, dry hair to begin. I’ll start by sectioning your hair, which can be done in square or triangular sections, depending on your hair's density, texture, and the thickness you want for your dreadlocks. The sectioning is typically done in a brick-lay style to allow the dreads to fall naturally between each other, but it's fully customizable based on your desired look.
The process starts with me backcombing each section to create a loosely formed dreadlock. Then, using a small crochet hook, I weave individual strands of hair back and forth through the lock, starting at the root. This process locks the dread in tightly, making the dreads neat and secure right from the beginning. While the crochet technique can be time-consuming, it ensures a beautiful, tight finish.
The time it takes to create your new dreadlocks depends on factors like your hair density, length, texture, and the thickness you want for your dreads. For long, thick hair, it’s common to spend one or two full days in the salon to complete a full head of dreads.
During your appointment, you can enjoy Wi-Fi, a big TV screen to watch movies or binge a series, and music to help the time pass while we work together.
Disclaimer: The crocheting process, especially at the scalp area, can range from uncomfortable to slightly painful depending on your scalp’s sensitivity, as individual hair strands are being pulled and manipulated. If you’re concerned about scalp sensitivity, I recommend starting with partial dreadlocks for your first appointment. This way, you can experience how the process feels and see how your hair reacts to the dreads in the early stages, post-washing, etc. From there, we can schedule follow-up appointments to finish your head or add more dreads as you wish.
New Dreadlock Creations are the beginning of your transformation!

Partial Dreadlocks
Not sure if dreadlocks are right for you? Want to see how they’ll mature with your hair type or just want a fun festival look? Partial dreadlocks could be the perfect starting point! You can choose to add just one, a few, or some rows underneath, without committing to a full head of dreads. If you decide that dreadlocks aren’t for you after a while, brushing out a few partials is much easier than removing a whole head of dreads!
Partial dreadlocks are charged at $70 per hour.
Top knot, dreadhawk and undercuts. Starts at $250
Half Head of Dreads: Typically, 25-30 dreads make up half a head. Prices start at $450.
Half-Head Dreadlocks
Not sure if you're ready to fully commit? Or maybe you don’t want to sit through a long appointment? Perhaps you love your natural curls and aren’t ready to give them up completely. If any of this sounds like you, half-head dreadlocks might be the perfect choice! You can even opt for 2/3, 3/4, or any other percentage of dreadlocks you’d like.
This option is a fantastic way to spread out the costs and appointment time while still getting a head start on your full dreadlock journey.
Just a heads up: Half-heads can sometimes require a bit more maintenance, especially when it comes to detangling loose hair from the dreads or maintaining separate washing routines for your dreadlocks and natural hair. But the flexibility and gradual transition make it a great option!
Full Head Dreadlock Creation – Starting at $650
